Grupo australiano formado en 1973 Sydney (Australia) por los hermanos escoceses Malcolm y Angus Young.
En 1976 se trasladaron a Gran Bretaña, firmaron un contrato internacional con "Atlantic Records" y comenzaron una gira europea, ocupando los primeros puestos de ventas, con la que ganaron una valiosa experiencia, tocando junto a grandes del hard rock, como Kiss, Aerosmith, Styx, Blue Öyster Cult y Cheap Trick. con discos como Let There Be Rock (1977) y Powerage (1978), les siguieron If You Want Blood You've Got It (1978) y el disco Highway to Hell (1979).
Lo que realmente les abrió las puertas al éxito, fue Highway to Hell (1979), producido por Mutt Lange
En febrero de 1980, el vocalista Bon Scott falleció por consumo excesivo de alcohol, la banda se planteó la continuar, fue sustituido por Brian Johnson, quien pertenecía al grupo Geordie. Grabando lo que sería uno de los grandes discos de los años 1980: Back in Black, dedicado a Bon Scott
En mayo de 1983, el batería Phil Rudd fue sustituido por Simon Wright, posteriormente sustituido por Chris Slade.
Lps como "Fly on the wall" (1985), "Who made who" (1986) o "Blow up your video" (1988)
El album "The Razor's Edge" (1990), producido por Bruce Fairbairn, volvió a recoger ventas considerables. Sus actuaciones en vivo resultaban espectaculares.
"Live" (1992), "Ballbreaker" (1995), con producción de Rick Rubin y "Stiff Upper Lip" (2000), de nuevo con George Young.
2000 comenzó la gira de presentación de Stiff upper lip en Gran Rapids (Michigan, EE UU). Un tour que llegó a Europa en octubre y terminó en el Palau Sant Jordi de Barcelona. Previamente, AC/DC había llenado hasta la bandera tres veces el Palacio de los Deportes de Madrid.
2001, los australianos volvieron a su país para luego regresar a EE UU.
2002 AC/DC fichan por Sony Music. Despues de 25 años con Atlantic Records.
